Professional Interests

You might have reached my site as one of my students or training clients, or perhaps you are a colleague through music or academia. Whatever the case, welcome! I have several professional interests, and key among them are fitness training, teaching and playing music, in no particular order, but outlined briefly below.

Fitness & Sport

I am a certified physical trainer as well as being CPR and First Aid certified. I received my own physical fitness training early on in the French Army for a specialized unit where I served as a drill instructor. My favorite sports are track, boxing and gymnastics, and my methods of training incorporates quite a bit from these disciplines. I train clients in my own gym, their homes or occasionally through a third party gym, such as the Phoenix Downtown YMCA. Private sessions are $60/hour, although I do bootcamps for 5 or more people at reduced rates. Please see my work out influenced movie, Gym Rhythms.

Socio-cultural Anthropology

I have been teaching college-level anthropology and sociology courses for the last 10 years in Phoenix. Other practical anthropology work experience includes positions with UNDP, UNESCO and Jibek Jolu (Silk Road Project). I also made a short movie, The Summit, inspired by anthropological research taking place at Sunset Crater near Flagstaff, Arizona. In Spring 2008, I will be teaching ASB 102 at Paradise Valley Community College. This class is an introduction to cultural anthropology.

Percussion

I started playing drums at age 14 and came to the US in my twenties on a Buddy Rich scholarship to Berkeley School of Music. I have recorded and played with many local Arizona musicians around the valley in various musical styles, but predominantly jazz, latin and blues. Occassionally I give drum lessons at Milano's Music in Mesa, Arizona.

Please feel free to contact me if your interests and needs intersect any of the above areas.
